Since Halloween is approaching rapidly, I decided to have a Halloween food series in the following weeks. This recipe is not that Halloweeny, but it is quite fun to prepare, especially if you have kids helping you in the kitchen – they’ll love it.
For the meatballs you’ll need…
- 200g lean mince
- 1/2 slice of (white) bread
- 1/2 medium onion
- 1 egg yolk
- 2 tbsp flour
- 1 green pepper
- mayonnaise or mustard
- cheese cream or butter
Method of cooking
Cut the onion as small as possible, and cook it in oil,
Soften the bread slice by soaking it in a cup with water.
Mix the meat, bread slice, onion, egg yolk, salt and pepper until you obtain a homogenous mix.
Model the meatballs, and then roll them through the flour.
After that’s done, cut the pepper into small slices.
Cut the bread slices in a round shape that would fit the size of the meatballs and spread some cheese cream (or butter) on them.
Attach the pepper slices on the meatballs, and then add them on the cheesy bread slice.
You can draw their face and mouth using mayo or mustard, and I used pear tomatoes as hats.
Use rosa tomatoes or ketchup to decorate the plate. Or whatever you’d like to, get creative!
